Finger Lakes Lavender Festival 2010...SUCCESS!

Gary and I awoke at 6:00am Monday morning still on a lavender high. We grabbed a cup of tea, sat in the gazebo overlooking our lovely lavender field and reflected on the last two glorious days. We welcomed over 1000 visitors this weekend to celebrate the love of lavender. Sharing the love we have for the farm and our lavender with so many people has been a dream for us. Seeing the enjoyment and the smiles of our quests has given us the encouragement to continue to grow.

Enjoy the show!

We especially want to thank all of our visitors, volunteers and artists. As we take the next step in improving this event their ideas and encouragement are so welcomed. In the following weeks I will be posting pictures of our event and information that so many visitors have requested on growing, caring and crafting with lavender. So become a follower of our site at http://www.lockwoodfarm.blogspot.com/ for more information.

You don't have to go to Provence to be in a field of lavender.

We are just days away from the 2010 Finger Lakes Lavender Festival.  And the lavender is in full bloom.
Join us for the essence of lavender.

Topiary artist, Michelle Masters will be appearing on Sunday, July 11th during the festival

Living in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, topiary artist Michelle Masters left a promising career in computer graphic design in order to pursue her creative roots - painting. After a year of painting her love of gardening and growing things found their way to the paper and her first watercolor and ink topiary hat was created. Soon after many designs and collections grew but the first hat "Lady Lavender" has remained one of her most popular designs and is also featured as her business' identity. Michelle's clever images are clean, simple, uncluttered and well designed. The topiary line although whimsical and fun is based around a casual upscale style and is a perfect gift idea for nature lovers.

Michelle has designed this years Finger Lakes Lavender Festival poster and our Skaneateles T shirts.  They are available to purchase during the festival and every Saturday and Sunday when out lavender market is open.

Watercolor artist, Kathleen Schneider will show and sell her work during the festival.

Kathleen Schneider is a self-taught artist who enjoys the creative process as much as the finished product. Primarily a watercolorist, she finds life's simple pleasures, people, gardens, landscapes, and still lifes that all tell a story, her favorite subjects. Her style reflects the work of two contemporary painters she admires: Charles Reid for his painting of light and fluid washes, and Ray Hendershot for his texture and detail, and also impressionist Mary Cassatt for her passion for her subjects. Kathleen feels a deep sense of satisfaction when someone is drawn to her work. She and her family presently reside in Camillus, New York where she maintains a studio.
