Finger Lakes Lavender Festival 2013 Poster Winner is...

The Finger Lakes Lavender Festival committee is honored to announce a beautiful oil on canvas painting by Syracuse artist, Karen Burns as the official 2013 Finger Lakes Lavender Festival artwork.
Karen has been painting and exhibiting her work for over 30 years.  For the last decade, she has been working in oils and watercolors, specifically focusing on the natural beauty found in upstate New York.  Most recently, she's been exploring the infinite variations of green that make up our unique landscape.  Her work coalesces around color, light, the changing seasons of the Northeast, a certain time of day or night, rich textures and surprising shapes.
Burns has also worked as a graphic artist and illustrator, designing logos, posters, magazines and books.  Her paintings and sculptures can be found in collections throughout the Northeast.  She currently lives in Syracuse, NY.  Recent shows include the gallery at Baltimore Woods in Marcellus, NY and the Made in NY exhibition at Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY

Congratulations Karen!

The proceeds from the sale of the poster during the festival will be donated to the American Red Cross.  Karen will be available to sign her poster during the festival. The painting will appear in the summer issue of Plank Road Magazine.

We want to thank everyone who participated in this years contest.  The talented artists have made it difficult  for the festival committee to pick one winner year after year.

Volunteers Needed!

As we celebrate our 6th Annual Finger Lakes Lavender Festival, the festival can’t happen without a great group of volunteers.  Last year the festival welcomed over 3000 visitors to the festival and because we expect the event to be bigger and better we know we will receive more visitors in 2013.  The festival is a two-day event with many opportunities for volunteers to find a time that fits their schedule.  Volunteers are the heart and soul of the festival and we treasure you!!

Volunteers Training

As a volunteer you will be giving directions, information on our demonstrations and workshops, help with parking and road crossing, taking payment for u-pick bouquets and instructions on cutting and drying lavender.  You'll meet people young and old, share stories and information about our farm and the Finger Lakes region, training will be provided.

Be part of something big and join us for the most fun you will have all summer!
